hooked up with Buddy. I'm with a guy named Jake now, he's an ok guy but he drinks a lot."
Yolanda raised her eyebrow, "Your mother doesn't know?"
"Naw," Jeena laughed and waved her off, then walked into the kitchen and handed the baby a bottle from off the stove and set him back in the pen. "Do you think she would listen if I told her I wasn't with Jack anymore and I was with some other guy shacked up in here?"
"I really don't know, she is your mother you know." Yolanda looked nervously around. "You don't think she cares?"
"Oh yeah sure she cares!" Jeena replied sarcastically. "She cares so she can gripe at me, and tell m one more thing wrong with my life." She plopped down in a chair next to the sofa, "Why are you getting married anyway, wouldn't rather live with David for a while, you know to make sure it's all gonna work out?"
"I think it's going to work out, I have faith in the Lord." Yolanda started.
"Oh yeah, you're still into all the God crap aren't you? Well if there's a God then why did he let this happen to me? Why does he let people get knocked around in their own homes? My next door neighbor was shot and killed over a black and white t.v. set, where was God then?" she reached over and lit a cig. "Not to knock you, but why would you put faith in something that doesn't even exist? You're a better judge of people than that, I've lived with Jake for about two months now, if we had gotten married I would already be gettin a divorce. I can't imagine gettin stuck with a fool like him forever. You just gotta stick your foot in the water first, see if you like it, there's no reason to get married."
"What happened to you?" Yolanda glanced at her, "You go to church with me."
"Yeah well," Jeena blew out the smoke. "I found out there's a better way to live is all, one without so many rules and stuff. Why should I have to pray to someone who doesn't even exist? I tried that once remember? And when I met Jack I found out all about life, sex, drugs, it's a different world Yolanda. You just do what makes ya feel good that's all, you can't live forever."
Just then the door opened, a large man walked in, dark greasy hair and brown eyes. "You better have my dinner ready or I'm not gonna be so nice today like yesterday..." he was cut short by the sight of Yolanda sitting on the couch. "Who's this?" he barked at Jeena. "What did I tell you about having people over? I said you can't have people over here"
"She's a friend of mine from high school, her names Yolanda." Jeena started in.
"I don't care who she is, tell her to get out. This is my house and I don't want her here." Jake stumbled into the bedroom and started clanging stuff around.
Yolanda stood up, "I better leave, come with me. You can take the baby, we'll find someplace for you to stay."
Jeena rolled her eyes, "You know that's the deal with you Christian people. You always think you're better than everyone, you think I've got it so bad here that I want to leave. You
