Jessi started her job within a week, the pay was twice as much as she had been making, and at first all was well with her. She bought a big house, a new car, and lots of clothes for her and her son. Soon after that she began to go out and party all night, she got several boyfriends on the side and would stay out all night with them. By the time it was morning she was always late for work, she would show up groggy anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour later. Her boss began to note on her time sheet the lies where she would say she came in on time and yet her desk was vacant. Her son began to follow her lead and started dropping in his grades in school, staying out late with his friends and doing all kinds of drugs and stuff until three am. What difference did it make to him, his mom wasn't home until sometimes four am if at all. She never knew what he was doing, and one night he was out late with his friends and got caught stealing a pack of cigarettes. His mom wasn't anywhere to be found, she was atthe Club Roulond with her latest boyfriend. She stayed at his place and didn't even get home until the next evening.
When she got home she noticed the message on the machine, but it was too late. She called the police station, but the officer informed her that the child protective agency had already stepped in and he was going into a temporary foster home until permanent placement could be found. She binged that night when she went out, trying to drown her sorrows. Her new boyfriend could not ease her pain, when she pushed him aside he got angry and left her. Her whole life began to come crashing down around her, day after day she would do nothing but drink her sorrows away, the welfare people wouldn't give her back her son, she could see him from time to time. But when she did he was always so high on something he didn't want to see her anymore, he just wanted to hang out with his friends.
She got so bad with her addiction that she even started drinking at work, as if coming in late wasn't enough, her supervisor fired her. She lost her house because she couldn't pay for it, and eventually she was living on the streets.
